You can be an inch away from a subject and still have the lens achieve proper focus. In practice, there is little to no minimum focus distance when used underwater behind a fisheye dome port. One of the big selling points is the incredible minimum focus distance of the lens: 5.5” (14cm) from the image plane (aka the back of the camera). The key difference is that the lens is offered in Canon and Nikon mounts. The optics in Pentax’s original 10–17mm lens are the same as in the Tokina version.
